Reliance Products Ltd. will be the best Rigid and Collapsible Container Company, servicing
the Chemical and Food Markets with high barrier blow moulding technology.
Our Consumer line will become the largest supplier of water container products, globally, keying in on the mass merchants. We will look for blow mould product opportunity in areas that will seasonally offset our core business.
We are prepared to partner with our key customers and follow them around the world.
Reliance Products has been working in plastic conversion for over 45 years. We started out
in 1958 packaging battery acid and manufacturing collapsible containers, all the while
supplying containers to other packagers of battery acid. Our Fold-A-Carrier water container
was eventually born out of our modifications to these containers and this would be the
foundation of a complete camping product line to follow years later.
Manufacturing was consolidated in 1993 to the current Sherwin Road location in Winnipeg. Reliance received its first ISO quality certification in 1991 and is currently ISO-9001: 2000 registered. It was also around this time that we exited the battery acid game to focus on plastic packaging and additional consumer products. Today, we continue to manufacture blow moulded and injection moulded products suited for both our industrial and consumer customers.
The Industrial Products line provides product packaging such as rigid bottles, tightheads, flexible containers and openhead pails to meet a diverse range of customer needs. We are the only Canadian company that uses the Airopak® in-line fluorination process to treat bottles for greatly improved barrier properties for many chemicals. We also have the technology to produce Selar® RB barrier bottles. Our advanced decorating capabilities allow us to print up to six colours of almost any text, image or pattern on our pails. We're constantly working with our customers to develop custom products to meet particular specifications.
On the consumer side, we manufacture a number of products for camping and outdoor living under the Reliance name. Many of these products have equally important applications in Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Relief helping people to prepare for and respond to unexpected events. Our three key product groups are hydration, sanitation and organization: everything from water containers and portable toilets to storage containers and tent pegs! While all of our products are available for purchase through our website, our success hinges on our strong relationships with our retail partners. With distribution through the largest department stores, mass merchants and specialty outdoor retailers, our products are available in most major communities in North America. Our web partners and a number of retailers overseas have also helped to bring the Reliance brand of products to a growing number of customers worldwide.
If you should have any questions about any of our products please do not hesitate to contact us with any inquiries.
In working toward our mission, Reliance Products Ltd. will operate within the following guidelines as the foundation of our Quality Management System:
Reliance Products believes that consideration of the environment is a fundamental
requirement for a healthy, sustainable business.
This belief is reflected in three key ways;
Firstly, in how we operate our facilities to minimize the environmental impacts in their immediate vicinities,
Secondly, in the products we develop to offer alternatives that can reduce the impact of disposal in the environment,
Thirdly, in how we move our products to market so as to minimize waste and pollution.
Every moulding machine at Reliance operates on a 'closed loop' principle. Any waste that is
generated as a result of the manufacturing process is immediately ground up and fed
directly back into the same process. When a product is made that fails to meet our exacting
standards, it is also ground up and fed back into the production of the same item.
In some cases, resin becomes mixed with other colours, inks, etc., and cannot be put directly back into high performance applications. For this situation, Reliance has developed specific products - and sales channels for them, which do not require high performance criteria. Resin that cannot be returned directly to production is channelled into the manufacturing of these items.
The target is that ALL of the resin that Reliance purchases be made into saleable goods, and that none be shipped as waste to landfill sites.
Reliance offers a line of collapsible composite packaging ranging in size from 4 L to 23 L
(1 to 6 Gal) that can reduce the amount of plastic packaging destined for landfill by 80%
versus traditional packaging.
For the Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Reliance has one of the broadest lines of packaging available that meets strict United Nations standards. The use of high performance containers of this type helps to protect both the environment and users from leaks and spills.
Every effort has been made to make as many of our packages out of single material types to make recycling as easy and efficient as possible.
As so many of our products are made for use in the outdoors, we want to do our part to ensure that our available outdoor resources are maintained and remain available for everyone to enjoy. Reliance Camping products are all designed and made with the intention of allowing people to enjoy the great outdoors while leaving as small a 'footprint' behind as possible.
To get our products to market, we as a company, also use packaging and of course,
Great efforts are taken to ensure that the minimum amount of packaging necessary is used to protect the products on their way to the end user. We use only pallets that are part of re-useable pallet systems, or our own 'return-for-deposit' pallets.
Wherever available, goods are shipped by intermodal rail. Our efforts take several hundred trucks per year off of the highways. The next preference is to ship full truckloads, thus maximizing the quantity of goods delivered in each trip. Smaller, less efficient shipments are made only when absolutely necessary.
These are only a few of the ways in which Reliance Products tries daily to live up to it's obligations to the environment.
